
Mumbi Kandeke Mwila
Mumbi is a Human Resources professional with more than 19 years of experience with a successful track record of leading human resource programmes for large, reputable institutions with a strong background in leadership, employee relations, strategic planning and aligning the people agenda to the Business.
As well as being one of IABFM’s senior Leadership and Strategic Planning trainers she has a key HR role as Director Human Resources for the Bank of Zambia (The Central bank). Prior to this role she was Chief Human Resource and Training Officer with Zambia National Commercial Bank (ZANACO) and has worked with other organisations such as Airtel Zambia, Airtel Africa and Atlas Mara.
During the course of her career, Mumbi has held senior positions in not only Zambia but also Kenya and Sierra Leone. She has also provided Human Resource training and support in countries such as Burkina Faso, Malawi, Madagascar, Seychelles and Niger.
Mumbi is a Harvard Alumni having completed a General Management Program with the prestigious Harvard Business School. She also holds Bachelor of Science with Education, a Masters of Business Administration and is a fellow with the Zambia Institute of Human Resources Management. She is also a Certified International Business Leader (CIBL).
Through the years, knowing that you cannot teach what you don’t know, Mumbi’s journey has taught her enough to take up coaching and mentoring in personal development very keenly and she has coached and mentored many people.
Mumbi has had a passion for the training and development of people. She was responsible for setting up the Training and Development function at Celtel Zambia (Now operating as Airtel) Although Mumbi has specialised in Leadership and Strategy training she has delivered training in various subjects from Customer Services, General Management Programs, HR transformation training and in the Human Resources Function she has focused on building capability in various Human Resources Disciplines.
She has led change management initiatives with organisational impact such as rolling out Human Resource Information Systems and Implementing performance Management systems. Managing Job evaluation process with an impact on people, their grades and remuneration. Mumbi also played a key role to identify and drive culture change at an Organisational level which led to improved business performance.
She has co-facilitated workshops such as Leading people through Change for a bank in Zambia. Conducted change management workshops for over 150 leaders in groups of 20 each. More recently she designed and facilitated a virtual change Management program for a team of people from different banks from Ethiopia.
She recently developed a very successful new IABFM program aligning HR Strategy to Business Strategy. She is particularly passionate about the need to transform the HR function and ensure that the function delivers on Strategic Business requirements. She is involved in designing and developing training content and also enjoys delivering training. She works with learners to ensure that they obtain maximum value from the interaction with her by challenging them to think and participate in their learning.
